One of the best ways to make money from persuasive presentations is by turning the content into an information product that you can sell or use to promote your business.

When you have created or delivered your persuasive presentations, the process of turning it into a product is much easier than you’d think.

Here are the five steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Record your persuasive presentations

If you are lucky, the organizers of the event may be able to provide you with a recording. But you can easily do this yourself.

Record your Presentation

All you need is a simple digital voice recorder with a separate microphone – a lapel microphone is the best option. You can also record the presentation directly into your laptop using a separate microphone.

If you’re not able to record the presentation, you can easily record it afterwards using the same material.

Sometimes it’s even a good idea to record the presentation before you deliver it as it gives you a chance to practice your content.

Step 2: Have it transcribed

Once you have recorded your presentation, the next step is to have it transcribed.

Simply search for ‘transcriptionist’ online or use freelance services such as Elance.com. There are also specialist transcription services such as idictate.com and castingwords.com.

In addition, voice recognition systems such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking now produce very good quality results.

Step 3: Produce your product

Now that you have your transcript and a recording, you have the material for creating your product.

If you are simply turning the presentation into a report, all you need to do is reformat it so that it looks better. In general, don’t waste time on fancy layouts.

The latest versions of word processing programs such as Microsoft Word provide many templates that allow you to produce an attractive looking report very easily. If you don’t have Microsoft Word, the free alternative Open Office is excellent.

If you are going to deliver your product as a download from your website or by e-mail, the most common way to do this is by turning it into a PDF that can be read on any computer. Again the latest versions of Microsoft Word and Open Office have this facility available.

If you don’t have access to these, there are plenty free PDF creation packages available online.

If you’re also going to make the audio part of the presentation available, the best option is usually to deliver it as an MP3 file as most people have the ability to download and listen to these.

Step 4: Publish it so that people can get access to it

Now that you have created your product, you need to have a system that allows people to get access to it. If you are delivering the product online, you will need two pages on your website:

Sales page: This tells people about the product and why they should buy it or sign up for it.

Download page: You’ll need a separate page where people can get access to the report (and recording, if appropriate) after they’ve signed up or paid.

In between these two pages, you will need to have a system for collecting money or for collecting e-mail addresses, depending on which you wish to do.

If you want to collect money, the easiest option is normally setting up an account with PayPal.com

PayPal collects money, credits it to your account and then redirects people to your download page.

If you are collecting email addresses, then it is advisable to use a professional autoresponder facility such as Aweber.

Step 5: Promote it to maximize signups or purchases

So now you’ve turned your presentation into a product — and set up a webpage where people can go to sign up or buy. But it’s not going to meet your objectives unless you tell people about it.

Here are seven ways you can drive traffic to your webpage to start attracting customers or subscribers.

  • E-mail your contacts
  • Pay-per-Click advertising such as Google AdWords
  • Off-line promotion such as advertising, direct mail and postcards
  • Publicity such as issuing press releases
  • Joint ventures with others who have access to the customers you want
  • Post relevant comments on blogs and forums related to your topic
  • Talk about your report on social media sites such as Facebook, Linked-in or Twitter

The secret now is to repeat the process many times to create a more profitable business.

Developing a full range of products

Once you’ve turned one presentation into a product, you can use it as the basis for building a much bigger business.

The basic principle here is that, when you can talk about something for 40 – 60 minutes, it’s likely you can talk on the same subject for a few hours.

The key is that you can go into the same subject in more depth, apply your content to more specific situations or broaden it out to cover related topics.

Any of these approaches allow you to expand your range of products and services to make more money.

Here are ten ways you can develop a single presentation into a business that has the potential to create a six-figure income if you follow the right process.

1.) Write a book: It only takes five or six presentations to give you a publishable book.

2.) Deliver podcasts: Podcasts are a way of publishing audio presentations online and help you establish your reputation and expertise more widely.

3.) Create an audio/video program: Technology now makes it very easy to produce audio or video delivering valuable information, either as a special recording or simply by recording an existing event.

4.) Develop a membership site: If you can deliver a one-hour presentation every month on a similar topic, you have the basis for a subscription-based membership website that people will pay fees to join.

5.) Offer coaching: Books, audio and video typically provide information in a general way so there’s often demand for more personal advice on how to apply the information.

This opens up the opportunity for coaching which can be delivered online, by telephone and in-person.

6.) Provide consultancy: Often people are looking not just for information, but they want specific solutions for exactly how they should apply the information to their own situation.

Seminars and Workshops can be Profitable

This can create opportunities for very significant fees.

7.) Run seminars and workshops: Personal coaching is typically only delivered to one person at a time but seminars and workshops are a method of delivering the same information quickly to a much larger group.

While the revenue per head may be lower for this approach, the large numbers of people which can be covered make it very attractive.

8.) Run teleseminars and webinars: Teleseminars and webinars are a way of delivering information online without the limitations of having to book a venue.

You can either use them for promoting your other services or to generate revenue in their own right.

9.) Offer training: Some organizations may want the expertise that you are presenting delivered to larger groups of people in an active way through training programs. They will often pay significant fees to have this done.

10.)
Deliver a ‘Done for You’ Service: In many situations, people are interested in having a complete solution. They simply want someone to do it all for them. This can be a very lucrative opportunity.

As you can see, there are many ways of turning the topic of a short presentation into a much larger business.
