To achieve your objectives from your persuasive presentations, you need to have a way of turning them into profit.
Here are seven steps you should follow to make sure that your presentation delivers what you want – and that will normally be either generating leads or getting new customers.
1. Ask for what you want
If you are hesitant about using presentations as a way of generating leads or making money, you will always find yourself earning less than you should.
So first you have to decide what results you want from your presentation.
Then be congruent and confident in asking for it — both with organizers and with your audience.
2. Offer a special report
If you want to generate leads from the event, you need to offer something that would encourage people to give you their contact details.
Ideally you should offer something that goes into more detail on the subject of your talk — for example a special report or white paper.
One way of making this process easy is by having a form that people can complete and hand in with their contact details.
3. Get commitment
One of the secrets to getting the outcome you want is to invite the audience to make some sort of commitment during your persuasive presentations.
So, rather than saying you have a free report available, say:
“Please put up your hand if you’d like to get a copy of my special report.”
4. Use contests
Have Something to Sell
Another way of getting people to share their contact details with you is to run some sort of contest.
This can work particularly well if the prize is something of your own such as a free consulting session or free copy of one of your books or products.
5. Have something to sell
The fastest way to make money from persuasive presentations is to be able to offer something that people can buy.
One of the ways of doing this is having a specific opportunity for people to follow up with you on the topic in more detail. For fast results, it’s often better if this is something pre-packaged rather than a general offer of a meeting.
For example, you may offer places in a longer seminar or series of teleseminars covering the topic in more depth for those who are interested.
6. Apply limitations
To maximize sales, you need a way of encouraging people to make decisions now rather than going home to think about it.
One of the best ways of doing this is by applying some sort of limitation to your offer such as limiting places or offering special deals to people who sign up today.
7. Follow up
The final key to profiting from your persuasive presentations is to make sure you follow up with people when they have given you contact details.
If the numbers are small, you should do this quickly with a phone call or email. If you’re adding them to your e-mail list or postal mailing list — make sure you contact them quickly and regularly.
You’ll probably find that your best customers come from the people who have met you in person.
